Popping back in...

Photobucket
Sigh - I have to admit, I am totally loving having a little blogging break. I didn't realise just how often I thought of the blog and what I should write about! They say a change is as good as a holiday and I have to totally agree....

Thank you so much for emailing us with your concerns and kind words regarding our storm damage. We are still awaiting our insurance company to get back to us with their report - that is taking much longer than anticipated and is quite disappointing. However - we are not like some of NSW and Victorian families whose homes were inundated with water etc. We still have our trusty SES tarp up and we're working - albeit in semi-darkness, but we're still functional!

Change brings about great visibility in life, though - it's like our wipers are totally going off on our windscreen and we can see the pouring rain of society coming through. So, there is change about with us - we're very certain a move is on the horizon and that will being with it the Retro Age showroom we have always wanted to bring you. It may be rural and a bit of a trek to get to...but it will be there when you want it! And there will be staff, too - so that leaves me with a lot more time to get all of our stock up on the website - and there is a lot of it, as some of you know!

Apologies if I am still not around much here over the next few weeks - this break is really refreshing. But I just wanted to pop in tonight to say hello! lovely people and that you're not forgotten :)

It's all this and that...

Photobucket
This time of year is all family and all fun. Lots of water play and lots of slothing. We are doing the basics with the business, but we want to make sure our little ones have a fun and memorable Summer. After all - we can work any time, any day...so who wants to work now when it's Christmas and New Year? Not us. No, siree. Just a tad of work here and there - and the rest is play. As you can see, lots of time lazing on huge blow-up donuts and riding down green slides...with dancing kidlets to the side. Hurrah for Summer...hurrah for family and fun times...hurrah for life...xx

Sardines in an Aquarium

Photobucket

Yesterday was a national holiday - Australia Day. I get a bit funny with Australia Day as it commemorates the landing of white people here and the subsequent domination of Aborigines (our native people). Don't get me wrong - I love being Australian and I am very proud of our culture and land - but I don't necessarily need a day to think on how lucky this lucky country is.

The kids have definite cabin fever so we took off on the train and headed up to the Melbourne Aquarium for the day. Neither one of us had been and we thought the kids would get a real kick out of it.

Photobucket

I have only been to one aquarium - Kelly Tarlton's in Auckland, New Zealand - and I was totally blown away by it. Mind you, I still remember the pacing sting ray in it's really small enclosure. I expected the same from Melbourne Aquarium.

Unfortunately we walked away a bit meh. Even the kids weren't overwhelmed. We don't know why, either...but there was nothing extraordinary about Melbourne Aquarium and the amount of Australian fish they had (which we have seen before) was just a tad too many. The best part was the Oceanarium - and that was at the end of the tour. By that stage the kids weren't impressed with how many visitors there were and they were grumpy!

Photobucket

It cost us around $100AUD to get into the Melbourne Aquarium, so it's not cheap. I would recommend it if you haven't been to an Aquarium before - as the total experience is great. But what I wouldn't recommend is going on school holidays - there were WAY too many people there, so many that we couldn't get the kids to see some exhibits....so go on an off time of year!

A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

Today has been a day or work and rest and play. We've got some lovely Spring weather today, so a quick zip down the road and eight minutes later we're on the beach playing ball and gathering old shells. And, of course, we have some more new arrivals to pop up onto the website. They're all 1940s and 50s today...my favourite eras!
