Some very psychedelic fabric...and a psycho husband

Firstly - I am the first one to admit I know nothing about modern computer and internet and general technology stuff. Nothing. I know roughly what a hard drive is (it's in a computer) but I have no idea what it does. I know the desktop is the front of the machine thing that I look at and I know I move a mouse when I move the cursor around.

I know to run a business that is largely online you need to have a snazzy computer or two, some good stuff on them, lots of room of them and also a decent internet speed and size of upload/download. Know all of that. Seriously - I do. And it's not because hubby is a computer tech/vintage fabric business owner...it's cos I know simple stuff in life. Yeh.

So here I am thinking as hubby knows all of the ins and outs he knows what he is doing and all of our computers and internet stuff is fine and there's lots of internet download we pay for to keep everything running smoothly.

Think again. Then I start work today. Hrumpf.

Cos someone's loving husband downloaded so much stuff this month (Sony Home ring a bell - or whatever it's called) we have gone over our limit (that is so huge we should never be able to go over) and we're now as slow as a wet week. Infact - slower. So slow every second seems like a year long.

See you in two days when our new month clicks over, we're back to zipping around the internet and hubby stops feeling guiltridden :) Hope you enjoy looking at the fabrics that were just about to go up on the website...had I a fast internet connection...

Some Retro Age Christmas shots

I thought I would add some images of our Christmas Day 2008...at the very least I had to show you my first plum pudding! I got the recipe from Frankie magazine and it turned out an absolute treat - lush, moist, rich and just soooo perfect. It's on one of my fave plates - a vintage 30s or 40s frosted green plate by Crown Crystal and is topped with an old retro kitsch santa.

Our table is not complete without our Barbara Brown Heal of London Ikebana tablecloth - we have had the brown and purple colourway, but this tablecloth is just the brown one :). Also note the vintage 60s plastic (bakelite??) cutlery and our Fire King jadeite plates...all used everyday!

I took some time out to bake some yummy shortbread with number one son (we cleaned his play dough cutters) and also made some of our traditional raspberry shortbread...see below. It's a traditional recipe my Nan used to make before she got too old to bake...

And, of course, I had to do the annual Christmas shot of the boys. It was hard to get the two of them sitting in one place this year - one is full of 'school is coming' beans and the other is 'I am looking at everything 'cos I'm only 13 months old'...but we got there in the end...

We love this shot :)

We're back - and open for business :)

Hello all! Merry Christmas to you and your family - and a Happy New Year to all! May 2009 be a wonderful year for everyone, filled with much joy, happiness and good times...and a better world economy and climate :)

We have had a lovely break filled with lots of little trips, family times, fun with friends and lots of rest and relaxation. We have also been filling our new stall at Geelong's Mill Markets with some of our clearance fabrics. We've got around 150 fabrics in the stall at the moment - none of which are available on the website - and we're hoping to triple that in the weeks ahead. Prices start from around $5 per entire piece and the most is $55 at the moment - the average is $20.

We've also been working steadily on our little bags and brooches and buttons and hope to continue that this year. Hoping I can teach myself how to make pillow covers, too - anyone know a good tutorial that even a clutz like me can follow?

Believe it or not I didn't make any New Years resolutions this year - which is a first for me. I don't know why, either...I am still trying to improve life and business and always looking to becoming that millionaire that has everything (including happiness!) but I just haven't started the year with that 'drive' I always do.

Anway - we're back open for business tomorrow (even though we've been sending out orders throughout the break - LOL!) and the Mill Markets stall is open 10am to 6pm seven days a week. We're at the Newcomb location.
