Dear Winter

Dear Winter

It's nice to see you once again. It feels like a year since we've last spent time together.

I just thought I would write to say how much I am enjoying you, at the moment. I love your sunny mornings after the bay fog has lifted. I love the dew on the leaves and the cold, stiff grass beneath my feet as I hang out the washing. I love my hunched back and brisk walk as I whip my legs to walking faster so I can get into the supermarket without chattering my teeth out. I love getting into bed at night - a bed that's been warmed by my 'wheat bag snake'. I don't particularly like the cold parts of the bed during the night, though - nor the dash to the ensuite, if required, at some silly morning hour. I love my heating but I so would love an open fire to sit by...and, yes, I would roast marshmallows with my boys and stick some bread in ir to miraculously turn it into toast. I love a dimmed Winter's room with flickering fire, the comforting presence of those I love and the warmth of a wee nip. I love slippers - I need a new pair this year. And I love my wheat coloured woollen wrap that envelopes my torso and shoulders to always keep my snuggly warm.

I love you, Winter...just don't rain too much, okay? I'm not a fan of too much rain...nor wind. So just sunny, crisp days are fine with me...thanks....

  1. I too am a fan of the Winter you described. Unfortunately, out here in the eastern suburbs we've had 3 days of thick fog and grey skies. Yesterday, the sun peeped out briefly at around 3.00pm. Today however, it was a complete no show. Brrr!

  2. This fog is amazing, isn't it? It's coming in so early here - around 5pm - and the temperature drops way too quickly for my liking! Need more sun today...fingers crossed!
